In the Gospel of Mark, we find a powerful reminder of the unwavering love and grace of Jesus Christ. In chapter 14, Jesus tells His disciples, "After I have risen, I will go ahead of you." Despite knowing the cross that lay ahead, Jesus reassured His disciples that He will always be there for them, ultimately leading the way with His comforting presence in glory.
Peter, the bold and passionate disciple, declares with conviction, "No way Jesus! We will never leave You!" But Jesus, in His infinite wisdom, knew Peter will soon deny Him three times. Yet, even tough He was about to be betrayed by all of His closest friends, Jesus remained steadfast in His love for His disciples.
As Jesus hung on the cross, He cried out, "It. Is. Finished." His sacrifice was complete, but His love still stands strong today. Despite the disciples scattering like sheep, Jesus was willing and able to disciple them; to guide them back to Him with open arms. How amazing that Jesus embraced the disciples even though they deserted Him!
So we see that a repentant heart is never too far for Jesus to hug. His love knows no bounds; His forgiveness is endless. He rose again like He promised. He was and still is triumphant over sin and death.
Let us examine our own hearts and repent of any sin within us. Let us also rejoice in the grace and mercy of Jesus. He is always near, ready to embrace us with His love and forgiveness. And as His children, we eagerly await the day when we will see Him face to face, knowing that we are never too far from a hug from Jesus.
Our sins they are many; His mercy is more. Praise the Lord!
